# Chat & channels

> Message founders and teammates; spin up cohort-wide channels

Caplia Chat lives behind the messages icon in the header: Slack-style DMs and channels, scoped to your real relationships (teammates, founders whose companies you have access to).

## Direct messages

* DM a founder from their company page with **Ask Founder**; the founder replies from their portal.
* DM teammates or start small group DMs.

## Channels

Named rooms with any mix of members: your teams, individual people, and **companies** (adding a company means its founders, present and future, can read and post).

<Tip>
  To channel a whole cohort in one go, open **New channel**: the group picker offers your property values (e.g. `Cohort = Q3 2026`) and your directories. Pick one and every matching company joins as a group. This is the fastest way to broadcast to a programme intake.

Threads, reactions, mentions, and unread email nudges all work as you'd expect.
